I love US history! I took four years of history classes: History of Rock and Roll, American History (parts I and II), and Foods of the Americas. I admire America’s rich cultural diversity thanks to the contributions of worldwide immigrants. So, in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrate October with me!
I thank the rich flavorful influence that has shaped the Hispanic community and culture. I have traveled to Spain, tried many dishes, saw sights, and talked to people. The tapas (small plates), sangria, and bullfights were terrific! I notice similarities within the Hispanic community between the countries I have traveled to and the places I have lived. For instance, tacos and burritos do not exist in Spain, whereas chorizo is standard.
Chorizo is a sausage that includes (hot) chili or (smoky) paprika flavors. With its varieties — small or large, with mushrooms or red wine, containing different proteins, smoked or hot with chilies, it’s delicious on Taco Tuesdays or any time of the day.
